here’s the fucking deal, tumblr.

this website is dangerous. it builds up people into these untouchable, flawless human beings that can do no wrong. doesn’t matter of it’s a celebrity, a writer, a director - whatever. those people are labelled “flawless”. which means that the MINUTE they say something questionable, the illusion is shattered. and sure, there’s nothing more traumatizing than having a role model let you down. but here’s the deal: “role model” should never be elevated to “idol” like it is here. and no human being should be idolized. a role model is someone you look up to, and learn from. here, on tumblr, there’s a lot of idealization of what society and humans are like. unfortunately, there’s very little realization that your standards are not the same as other people’s. what you want and what they do are always going to be different. projecting your own ideals onto celebrities you seem to relate to, characters you love, or shows you watch will only lead to disappointment. why? because you have no control over those things, and you never will.
